Programme and learning-platform terms

1. Enrolment and agreement

Enrolment and continued participation require acceptance of the current terms. The five-month 2026 Graphic Designing Masterclass starts on Thursday, 20 August 2026, with virtual Thursday-evening sessions and scheduled in-person sessions. Material changes will be communicated in writing and require renewed electronic acceptance where appropriate.

2. Equipment, software and connectivity

Learners provide and maintain a design-capable computer, chargers, storage, suitable connectivity, and required software. Canva or an approved alternative may be specified for course activities. The church is not responsible for ordinary loss, theft, damage, data loss, subscriptions, repairs, or connectivity costs affecting personal equipment.

3. Attendance, commitment and punctuality

Attendance is compulsory for scheduled online and in-person classes. Learners must attend on time for the full session, report unavoidable absence in advance, and arrange reasonable catch-up work. Three consecutive weeks without attendance may lead to removal after the learner is contacted and circumstances are reviewed; notice alone does not automatically excuse an absence.

4. In-person participation

Sessions may be held at Boksburg South SDA Church, 127 West Central Road, Dawn Park, or another communicated venue. Learners arrange their own safe transport and punctual arrival. Reasonable accessibility or participation accommodations may be requested from the facilitator in advance.

5. Official communication

The LMS and account email are official service channels. Participation in a WhatsApp group requires a separate, informed opt-in because group membership may reveal a phone number to other members. Learners must keep their contact details current and check official notices regularly. Marketing messages require a separate lawful basis and opt-out mechanism.

6. Assignments, exercises and academic integrity

Exercises, classwork and take-home tasks must be submitted by stated deadlines and must be the learner’s own work. Copying, plagiarism, impersonation, undisclosed collaboration, or presenting AI-generated or third-party work as original is prohibited unless a facilitator expressly permits and defines acceptable use. Moderators may review marks, feedback, authorship evidence and resubmissions.

7. Portfolio development

Each learner maintains an organised professional portfolio containing briefs, drafts, feedback and completed work. A final review may be required. The learner owns original learner-created work, while granting the church a limited licence to review, assess, moderate and retain it for programme administration.

8. Individual project

At least one individual project reflecting the learner’s own effort, creativity and technical progress is compulsory. The facilitator will communicate the theme and submission standard. Failure to complete it may prevent certification.

9. Learning-materials file

Learners keep a dedicated physical or digital archive of notes, references, drafts, exercises, feedback and submissions, available for proportionate assessment or moderation. Private material unrelated to the programme must not be requested or uploaded.

10. Conduct, respect and safeguarding

Respect, kindness, honesty and constructive participation are required. Harassment, discrimination, bullying, threats, sexual misconduct, hate speech, retaliation, unsafe contact with minors, or deliberate disruption is prohibited. Safeguarding concerns may be escalated to church leadership or lawful authorities. Emergency risk may justify immediate interim restriction.

11. Completion and certificates

Completion requires consistent attendance, required tasks, the individual project, an acceptable portfolio, deadlines, integrity and conduct compliance. A certificate confirms completion of this church programme only and is not an accredited academic qualification unless expressly stated in writing.

12. Suspension, removal and review

Repeated absence, lateness, incomplete work, misconduct, security abuse, or material breach may lead to support measures, warning, suspension or removal. Except for urgent safeguarding or security action, the learner should receive the concern and a reasonable opportunity to respond. A learner may request review by church leadership; decisions will be recorded and made fairly.

13. Intellectual property

Church-created teaching materials, templates and briefs remain owned or licensed by the church and may be used for personal study and portfolio development only. They may not be resold, redistributed or publicly republished without permission. Learners retain rights in original work and must respect third-party licences, trademarks, fonts, images and confidential briefs.

14. Media, showcases and promotion

Photos, recordings, screenshots, testimonials and identifiable learner work will not be used for promotion merely because a learner accepts these terms. Separate specific consent will be requested, may be declined without losing course access, and may be withdrawn for future use where legally applicable. Guardian consent is required for minors.

15. Safety and liability

Learners must take reasonable care of themselves, other people and belongings, including during travel and equipment use. To the extent permitted by law, the church is not responsible for loss caused solely by a learner’s negligence or unauthorised conduct. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or consumer, privacy, safety or other rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

16. Platform security and acceptable use

Accounts are personal. Users must protect passwords and verification codes, use two-factor authentication, report suspected compromise, and never attempt unauthorised access, scraping, malware distribution, disruption, privilege escalation or access to another person’s records. Administrators may audit access and restrict compromised accounts.

17. Privacy and POPIA

Personal information is processed for registration, identity, communication, delivery, assessment, moderation, safeguarding and records administration as described in the privacy notice. Access is role-limited. Users may request access, correction, objection, deletion where applicable, restriction, or lodge a complaint. Children’s information requires an appropriate lawful basis and competent-person or guardian involvement.

18. Minors and guardian authority

A learner under 18 must provide accurate age information and may be required to obtain parent or guardian approval before participation, media use, group messaging or processing that requires competent-person consent. Guardians must not use a learner’s account or complete work for the learner.

19. Third-party services

Courses may use approved services such as email, WhatsApp, video conferencing or design tools. Their own terms and privacy practices apply. Only the minimum necessary information should be shared, and an alternative will be considered where a non-essential third-party service is declined.

20. Availability, changes and support

The church may maintain, secure, change or temporarily suspend the LMS. Reasonable efforts will be made to protect records and communicate material interruption. Users should keep local copies of important portfolio work. Questions or complaints may be sent to communications@boksburgsouthsda.org.

21. Electronic acknowledgement and governing law

Electronic acceptance records the user, policy version, method and time and is intended to constitute a reviewable electronic acknowledgement. These terms are governed by South African law. If one term is unenforceable, the remaining terms continue. No term removes a right granted by applicable law.
